Amazon Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse: Price, Features, Bee Pro Subscription and Review

Short answer: Amazon's Bee team has launched two personal AI devices. Bee Frontier ($74.99, on sale now at Amazon.com) is a wristband or clip-on wearable, and Bee Eclipse (from $99.99, "coming soon") is a credit-card-sized gadget that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone. Both listen when you switch them on and turn conversations into summaries, to-dos and reminders. A Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99 a month, with 30 days free for new customers.
Amazon announced both devices on October 15, 2026. They are the first new Bee hardware since Amazon bought the startup in 2025.
What is Amazon Bee?
Bee is a "personal AI" service built around a small microphone you carry with you. When it is on, it picks up what is said around you and turns it into conversation summaries, to-do lists, reminders and longer-term "memories". You read the results in the Bee mobile app or the new Bee desktop app.
Bee started as an independent startup whose first device, the Bee Pioneer, was a simple $49.99 wristband. Amazon agreed to buy the company in July 2025; Bee's co-founder and CEO Maria de Lourdes Zollo announced the deal on LinkedIn, and financial terms were not disclosed (Tom's Guide). Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse are the first devices launched under Amazon.
Both new devices use the same app and account. The difference is where the microphone sits: on your body (Frontier) or on your phone (Eclipse).
Bee Frontier vs Bee Eclipse: what's the difference?
Bee Frontier is the successor to the Pioneer wristband. You can wear it on the wrist with a soft silicone band or clip it to your clothing. According to Amazon's announcement, it has:
- IP67 water resistance
- Up to seven days of battery life
- USB-C charging
- Dual microphones with noise filtering, aimed at busy places such as restaurants and open offices
- A single button to start and stop listening, plus an LED that shows when it is active
- An optional setting that switches it off after a period of silence
It comes in Onyx, Lavender and Sage.
Bee Eclipse is a new form factor: a slim device "about the size of a credit card" that attaches magnetically to the back of a phone. Amazon rates it at more than 21 days of battery life on one charge, three times Frontier's figure. Amazon pitches it for phone calls as well as in-person conversations, and says users are prompted to get permission from call participants each time a recording starts. It will come in Silver, Midnight, Honey and Blush. Amazon has not given a release date beyond "soon".

How much is Bee Pro, and do you need the subscription?
Every Bee device includes conversation summaries, recaps and 14 days of memory at no extra cost. Bee Pro costs $11.99 per month and adds:
- Unlimited recent conversation summaries
- Alexa+ and Amazon.com integrations
- Third-party app integrations
- Suggested to-dos and daily memories
- A personal chat assistant
- Conversation templates
- The Bee desktop app
New Bee customers get 30 days of Bee Pro free. After that, a year of Pro adds about $144, so the first-year cost of Frontier plus Pro comes to roughly $219.
Do you need it? If you only want short-term summaries of recent conversations, the free tier may be enough. If you want Bee to remember things beyond two weeks, connect it to your email and calendar, or talk to it through an Echo speaker, you will need Pro. Use the free month to decide whether you actually open the app every day.
What can Bee connect to?
Bee can draw on apps you already use. Amazon lists Gmail, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook, so Bee can surface action items after a meeting, draft follow-up emails or create calendar invites from plans you made out loud. It can also connect to Apple HealthKit and your photos.
The two new Amazon integrations, both Pro-only, are the most interesting:
- Alexa+: you can ask an Echo device for a meeting summary, your to-dos or a detail from an earlier conversation. Amazon says the Echo uses voice ID to recognise you before reading out your Bee information.
- Amazon.com: Bee can spot products you mention and surface them as recommendations on the Amazon homepage and in the Bee apps.
Amazon Bee vs Plaud: which AI wearable should you buy?
Plaud is the best-known rival. TechCrunch lists the Plaud Note at $159 and the Note Pro at $189, and Plaud's wearable NotePin also costs $159. Bee undercuts all of them on hardware price.
| Bee Frontier | Bee Eclipse | Plaud NotePin | Plaud Note Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hardware price (US) | $74.99 | From $99.99 | $159 | $189 |
| Form factor | Wristband or clip | Magnetic phone attachment | Pin, clip, necklace or wristband | Card-style recorder |
| Free tier | Summaries, 14-day memory | Summaries, 14-day memory | 300 transcription minutes a month | 300 transcription minutes a month |
| Alexa / Amazon integration | Yes (Bee Pro) | Yes (Bee Pro) | No | No |
The two take different approaches. Plaud is built around recording specific meetings and producing detailed transcripts and notes. Bee is pitched as an all-day personal memory that turns everyday conversation into to-dos and reminders, and it ties into Alexa+ and Amazon shopping. Choose Plaud if you want meeting minutes; choose Bee if you want a cheaper, lighter assistant and already use Alexa. We compare more rivals in our full AI wearable comparison.
Does Bee work on Android?
Yes, there is an Android app. Bee's website links to both the Apple App Store and a Google Play listing, "Bee AI", which was last updated on October 16, 2026 (Google Play). Amazon's announcement does not list phone requirements, though, and it mentions Apple HealthKit, which only works on iPhone. Android users should expect any Apple-specific features to be missing, and should check the Amazon.com product page for compatibility before buying.
Is Amazon Bee available outside the US?
Not officially yet. Amazon's announcement only mentions Amazon.com, and launch coverage, including TechCrunch's, names no other countries. Amazon has not said when Bee will reach the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe or other markets.
Importing a Frontier is possible in principle, but it is a risk: features such as Alexa+ and Amazon.com recommendations depend on regional services, and Amazon has not said how Bee behaves outside the US. Waiting for a local listing is the safer choice.
Amazon Bee and privacy: what does it record?
An always-available microphone from the world's largest online retailer will raise questions, and Amazon has clearly anticipated them. Both devices run on what Amazon calls Bee Private Compute, which processes conversations in an isolated environment. Amazon says:
- No audio is stored. Audio is processed in real time and then deleted.
- Transcripts are encrypted with keys that only your device creates and controls. Amazon says no one, including Amazon, can access them unless you choose to share them.
- You control recording. One press starts or stops listening, and an LED shows when it is on.
- You can delete transcripts and summaries at any time.
So Bee does keep text: transcripts, summaries and the memories built from them. What Amazon says it does not keep is the audio itself.
Some caveats:
- The people around you did not agree to anything. Eclipse prompts for consent on calls, but in-person recording relies on the wearer's judgement. Recording-consent laws differ between countries and between US states.
- The Amazon.com integration links conversations to shopping. It is optional and Pro-only, but switching it on means what you say can shape what Amazon shows you.
- These are Amazon's own claims. No independent audit of Bee Private Compute has been published. Amazon's technical explainer is linked below.
Who should buy Amazon Bee?
Bee Frontier suits you if you have many in-person conversations, such as meetings, lectures or medical appointments, and want a cheap device that is with you even when your phone is in a bag.
Bee Eclipse suits you if you would rather not wear anything extra, spend much of your day on phone calls, or care most about battery life.
Skip Bee if you are uncomfortable carrying a microphone, often talk in settings where recording would be inappropriate, live outside the US, or do not want another monthly subscription.
Amazon Bee review: what we know so far
Hands-on reviews of Frontier and Eclipse had not been published at the time of writing. Reviews of the original Pioneer were mixed: The Verge's Victoria Song called it a "glimmer of a good idea" but found it confused real conversations with TV and music playing in the background (Tom's Guide). We have rounded up the early reaction in Is the Bee AI wearable worth it?.
